IET & Career Pathways

Definitions

What is IET?

IET is short for Integrated Education & Training. An IET program is a structured program where adult learners participate in contextualized adult education or literacy services at the same time as they are completing workforce training and workforce preparation activities aligned to a specific career or job goal.

What are Career Pathways?

Career Pathways are a component of WIOA that comprise a combination of rigorous and high-quality education, training, and other services.  Career Pathways align with the needs of the New Mexico economy, preparing and supporting people to be successful in higher education and training or to advance in their current careers.

Career Pathways in New Mexico

The Career Pathways service model is a key component of the work that local adult education programs do to meet WIOA workforce training requirements and effectively support their learners' college and career goals. NMHED Adult Education Division and Propel staff can offer tools and technical assistance to help programs implement design and implement community-specific career pathways, develop partnerships with workforce development stakeholders and local workforce boards, and enhance educational services for justice-involved individuals, English language learners, and others with barriers to education and employment.
